Design of high efficient radiant floor heating system
Design of highly efficient radiant floor heating system. The plant has been realized with thermo-reflective insulation panels in polyurethane, thickness up to 46 mm, with high thermal resistance (1,92 m2K/W). The flat panels installed improved the thermal exchange between the fluid and the floor. The pipe used is in polyethylene cross-linked, with one internal layer of Aluminum and a nominal diameter up to 20 mm to improve the thermal efficiency.
The single pipe loops have been designed in order to have the same length and to facilitate the hydraulic balancing.
Overall, 1200 m of pipe have been installed, drowned inside one concrete layer with very high thermal conductivity, 2,02 W/mK. This allow to realize a system with a reduced thickness of concrete above piping (3 cm), the minimum allowed by regulation. This decrease the thermal transient time, the fluid temperature downstream boiler and enhance the energy saving.
